Whether you’re trying to report cruelty, reunite a lost pet with their family, or just need some helpful info, we’ve gathered a bunch of resources to help you (and the animals!) out. If you can’t find what you need here, give us a call — we’re always happy to help.

Reporting cruelty

If you witness animal cruelty, neglect, or abandonment, please report it right away. Start by contacting the RSPCA or your local police. If you’re still not getting help or aren’t sure what to do next, get in touch with us — we’ll do our best to follow up and get assistance for the animal. Please note, ARRG is unable to seize animals and has no powers or authority to investigate or take action regarding offences under the NSW Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, this is done by the NSW RSPCA, AWL NSW or local Police.

Reporting lost/found animals

Whether you’ve lost or found a furry friend, here are some steps you can take:

If you’ve lost a pet:

  • Contact your local council and vets in your area and make sure your pets microchip details are up-to-date.
  • Check and post in Facebook groups for lost & found pets and classifieds
  • Advertise in your local newspaper and noticeboards
  • Reach out to local animal rescue groups
  • Try Lost Pet Finders

If you’ve found a pet:

  • Contact your local council
  • Visit a vet to scan for a microchip
    • If chipped: the owner will be contacted
    • If not chipped: the animal is taken to the council animal care facility and impounded (7 days unchipped / 14 days chipped)
  • Be aware not all pounds accept cats — check with your vet
  • Share info and photos on Facebook pages for lost & found/classifieds
  • Contact your local rescue groups
