FORREST, 12 week old male DSH Charcoal

ADOPTED ...

FORREST is a lesson in the dangers of backyard breeders. A young woman who should have had more sense, accepted a FREE kitten from people she didn't know. Kitten was not microchipped, vaccinated, wormed or flead. Certainly not desexed. So her 'free' kitten was going to cost $300-$400!!!

Of course this young woman lives in a rental ... So she brings home this adorable FREE kitten, falls in love, and then is told by the owner of the property that she does not have permission to have a cat.

So now the kitten has been surrendered to ARRG for re-homing ... and this FREE kitten has now cost this young woman an $80 surrender fee.

And now of course, the mother cat will be allowed to have more litters of kittens, because they were able to find homes to give away this litter, despite breaking the law by not microchipping. And once again ARRG is likely to have many of these kittens surrendered to us for re-homing! More often than not, people take these freebies without any planning or forethought, and then when they realise how much they'll end up costing them ... and the story continues.

Today's lesson ... DO NOT ACCEPT FREEBIES because they are anything but!!! And it is also ILLEGAL to even give away a cat/kitten/dog/puppy that is not microchipped.
