MANNIX, 11 month old male Manx short-hair Grey & White

ON ADOPTION TRIAL ...

MANNIX is a special needs kitten who will only be adopted to an experienced cat person who understands the future requirements of this darling little boy.

Found in a backyard alone, it was at first feared he had a tick and was brought in to the ARRG Office. Upon seeing that Mannix is a Manx kitten, and after a thorough check for ticks, it was realised that his inability to move his back legs properly was because of the genetic defect common amongst Manx cats or Spina Bifida. In Mannix's case, he has Swimmer Syndrom.

After lots of care and attention from his new foster carer, his back legs strengthened. He was also mothered by Clover (2298). He proved himself to be quite the fighter, and made himself a position with her kittens who were a month older than him. Then he had a case of diarrhoea and during his recuperation was placed with Halle (2322) who immediately accepted him. Her kittens were closer in size to Mannix.

Because of his condition, his growth seems to be stunted, though he is growing quickly, just not as quickly as his younger step-siblings. So he'll likely only be a small cat, which is good for his back legs. And his ability to bunny hop around the house is quite remarkable.

Whoever is seriously interested in adopting will need to be aware of the problems that may ensue as he grows older.
